Monitoring longevity of catchment health initiatives
We reviewed North Central Catchment Management Authorities monitoring and landholder support programs, using 18 years of data and stakeholder input to recommend improvements for long-term environmental stewardship.

The North Central Catchment Management Authority (NCCMA) is responsible for managing natural resources in a region that includes critical environmental features such as waterways and riparian zones. As part of an ongoing effort to assess and enhance the effectiveness of these programs, NCCMA sought an independent review of its monitoring programs and landholder support approaches.
Mosaic Insights was engaged to conduct a comprehensive review of NCCMA’s monitoring program and landholder support strategies. The review involved analysing 18 years of NRM audit data and conducting interviews with 20 stakeholders, including CMA staff, landholders, and staff from DEECA and other CMAs.
The project aimed to assess the effectiveness of NCCMA’s initiatives, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for a policy that would better support long-term stewardship practices among landholders. This review helped NCCMA strengthen its approach to landholder engagement and environmental management.
