To support continuous improvement of its Covenant Stewardship Program, Trust for Nature engaged Mosaic Insights to undertake a comprehensive program review. The goal was to assess how effectively the program supports conservation outcomes, landholder relationships, and internal alignment with Trust for Nature’s broader strategic objectives.

The review explored the program’s overarching purpose, integration with other business units, and performance across key areas such as landholder engagement, stakeholder partnerships, delivery of technical advice, conservation gains, and resource adequacy. Mosaic Insights also investigated opportunities for program growth and innovation, drawing on stewardship models and best practices from other jurisdictions.

Our work involved an in-depth review of existing documentation, interviews with Trust for Nature staff, and engagement with covenantors to gain a holistic understanding of current practices and future needs. The final report presents actionable recommendations and prioritised strategies to strengthen the program’s delivery, impact, and sustainability. This contributed to ensuring that stewardship efforts continue to protect Victoria’s private conservation lands while supporting and empowering the landholders who care for them.
